Programs - Latino Cultural Center

Visual and Performing ArtsThe Latino Cultural Center hosts a wide range of multidisciplinary events for diverse audiences. Art exhibitions rotate every few months. The Oak Farms Dairy Theater hosts theater, music, and dance performances. The courtyard is often used for vibrant cultural festivals including Dieciseis de Septiembre to Las Posadas.

Summer Curriculum

Target Second Saturdays

Target Second Saturdays are fun-filled days for the whole family! Each Second Saturday is unique and may include stories in Spanish, dance, theater and performance activities, arts and crafts workshops and more! Please check the calendar for specific programs. Come for an hour, or stay the whole day!


The Latino Cultural Center offers exciting after school programs in partnership with Big Thought/Thriving Minds. In the 2014 Fiber Arts Camp try your hands at dyeing, felting, sewing, and weaving in this fibers exploration. We will learn about plants and animals that natural fibers and dyes come from as well as their qualities, characteristics, and uses.

Students will:

-Make a vat of beautiful INDIGO and learn shibori, tie-dye, dip dye techniques. -Learn to finger knit and be introduced to traditional knitting and crochet

-Spin fibers and make their own yarn and rope

-Explore the magic of wet felting

-Use hand sewing techniques to finish a small purse or pouch

-Weave on lap looms and circular looms

This fiber arts camp is for middle school students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Students will be learning different weaving and fiber techniques, along with taking a field trip to an arts and culture center in DFW. Students will also be provided with a snack during their time at the LCC.

The LCC's Fiber Arts Camp will be held January 7-February13, 2014, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Latino Cultural Center (2600 Live Oak, Dallas, TX 75204). The Latino Cultural Center will be accepting a limited number of applicants for this free after school program.

Admission is not guaranteed. Applicants will be selected and will be informed by Friday, December 27, 2013.
Both an application and parental agreement form MUST be turned in to be considered for the after school program.
