The Juanita Craft Civil Rights House is the historic home of Juanita Craft, one of Dallas’ most influential and recognized civil rights leaders. Ms. Craft's home served as a civil rights "school" to many young African Americans for over 50 years. Ms. Craft was the first African American woman to serve in the Dallas City Council, the first black woman to vote in Dallas, and a national delegate to the 1976 Democratic Convention.

The City of Dallas owns and manages the Juanita Craft Civil Rights House in order to preserve the memory and legacy of Juanita Craft's civil rights work for all Dallasites. The House serves to increase the public's awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of the significance of Juanita Craft in the Civil Rights movement in the City of Dallas, the State of Texas, and the United States. The House displays memorabilia honoring Ms. Craft’s leadership and participation in the Civil Rights movement. The House is open by appointment only.
