intended to let you try something NEW, so take the chance to have an artistic
adventure this fall through Free Night!
This year the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs has broadened and
expanded the FREE NIGHT program that they have offered for the past three
years, giving thousands of patrons the opportunity to try something new and
experience some of the finest artistic work that the region has to offer!
Instead of being restricted to theatre, the program now includes dance, music,
and opera events at organizations of all sizes and styles.
The program also now operates with a new enter-to-win model (developed by LA Stage
Alliance), where patrons have two weeks to look over all the arts events
happening in the month of October and pick their top five choices and submit to
win them in a random drawing. On or about September 28th, the available
tickets will be randomly distributed based on the patrons' selections and
ticket availability, allowing each patron to win as many as five different
pairs of tickets! (Of course, as in all drawings and giveaways, getting
tickets isn't guaranteed - encourage your friends and family to enter as well
to improve your chances!)
FREE NIGHT is a national program created by Theatre Communications Group and
has hundreds of thousands of participants from coast to coast - join the
artistic adventurers, and be part of the dialogue using the twitter hashtag
#FNOT11 - hear from each other about what amazing artistic work is being
discovered in your area and around the United States!

participating regions go to www.FreeNightofTheater.net.
Free Night of Theater is supported in part by KERA's Art&Seek.
Free Night of Theater was named Best New Arts Event in 2010 by The Dallas Observer!
Thank you to the 2011 Free Night Participating organizations: Free Night of Theatre History Free Night of Theater was conceived at TCG's National Conference in 2003 as a way to remove perceived barriers that have historically prevented audiences from attending not-for-profit theater. The program was piloted in 2005 in three cities; Philadelphia, San Francisco and Austin. That year over 150 theatre companies welcomed nearly 8,000 theatergoers of which an estimated 80 percent were attending the theatre for the first time. Since 2005 the program has grown tremendously.
