DANCE CLASSES AT THE CENTER
On-going The South Dallas Cultural Center holds dance classes in all forms of Afro-Latin, African and Modern dance. Classes are held on Wed. evenings and Saturday all day. Classes are $15/class or $40/month. Registration starts Nov. 1.

On-going Learn to draw or sharpen your drawing skills with a drawing class at the South Dallas Cultural Center. Beginning and intermediate drawing classes resume with professional artist, Emmanuel Gillespie. Registration starts Nov. 1.

On-going Think you're too old to do African dance? Think again! Kumaasi African Ensemble will start an African dance class for the "elder set", making true the old adage "you're not getting older, you're getting better! It's not always how fast you move those hips but rather how convincingly! Join Kumaasi for this new, fun, energetic and uplifting class. Register by Dec. 25 and get $5 off first class.

On-going The South Dallas Cultural Center proudly partners with TARGET to bring the Gwendolyn Brooks Reading Club back home! This unique children's reading club exposes children ages 5 through 18 to the literary works of African American award-winning writers while enhancing the experience with a myriad of arts activities. We welcome young readers, but won't turn the old ones away! What better way to encourage a child to read than in a total arts environment offered at the Center!

Los Méxicos de Mariana Yampolsky:Ritos y Regocijos
March 15 - June 28, 2008 The Latino Cultural Center has the privilege to present Los Mexicos de Mariana Yampolsky: Ritos y Regocijos(“Mariana Yampolsky’s Méxicos: Rites And Rejoicings”), a photographic collection from Fundación Cultural Mariana Yamposlky, A.C. in collaboration with Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores de México, Consulado General de México in Dallas, Instituto Cultural de México in San Antonio and the Friends of the Latino Cultural Center.

May 1 - July 19, 2008 Texas contemporary artist Benito Huerta is regarded as one the most innovative, Latino artists of his generation. His work blends myth, iconography and images unique to Mexican and Latino culture with modern world images. This exhibition is the first in an annual series showcasing the work of Texas Latino masters.
